Dean originally developed the core optical fibre technology in 2008 for applications in security and defence. In 2017 he reworked the technology with significant technical improvements in bias control and signal processing to enable postural sway analysis and produce the first prototype Balance Mat. Over recent years Dean has made several technical breakthroughs enabling the production of the current Balance Mat which has now been validated by the University of Canberra. As the company’s Chief Engineer Dean has full responsibility for the ongoing development of the device. Dean has a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng). Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Canberra.
